“Everybody’s Got to Believe in Something”

“Bigfoot.” That’s how our day began at the Salt Fork State Park Eco-Discovery Center—with a grin, a camera, and our curiosity set to high. We’re Matt & Debi from Rolling with the Curves, and in this episode we dive into the legend that keeps hikers listening a little harder once the sun dips: Bigfoot at Salt Fork.

Inside the center we meet up with John Hickenbottom, Salt Fork’s resident naturalist. John’s love of nature is matched by a healthy curiosity for the Bigfoot stories that echo through these hills. He hasn’t seen the “big guy” himself—but he’s heard strange sounds, seen odd signs, and talks weekly with folks who swear they’ve encountered something they can’t explain.

“It’s hard to dismiss the sheer number of people who say they’ve seen something,” John told us.
